Quick answer
Sri Lanka's two main lotteries are run by the National Lotteries Board (NLB) and the Development Lotteries Board (DLB). Results are posted on their official sites, and lottery winnings above Rs. 500,000 are subject to withholding tax (rate not yet confirmed).
The NLB games
The NLB home page lists lotteries including Mahajana Sampatha, Govisetha, Dhana Nidhanaya, Jathika Sampatha, Mega Power, Mega Millions, Lucky 7, Handahana and Supiri Vasana, among others, and posts the latest draw results (for example Mahajana Sampatha on 15 Oct 2026). Check the official site for the full, current list.
How to buy
Not yet confirmed: tickets are sold through the boards’ sales networks. We have not confirmed purchase rules, including any age limit.
Prize claims
Keep the original ticket safe: tickets are bearer instruments (per a third-party claim guide, not yet confirmed). Always follow the instructions of the NLB or DLB. We do not process claims.
Tax
The Inland Revenue circular on withholding tax lists “any winning from a lottery, the gross amount of which does not exceed Rs. 500,000” in its rules. A third-party calculator reports 14% withholding on prizes above that amount, deducted by the lottery board. We have not confirmed the current rate with the department (not yet confirmed).
