Casino Age Limit in Sri Lanka: ID, Passports and Kids

What we know

A law-firm explainer on the 2010 Casino Business (Regulation) Act says it prohibited those under the age of 21 from entering or participating in gaming in a casino. That Act was repealed on 1 December 2025 by the Gambling Regulatory Authority Act No. 17 of 2025. We have not yet confirmed the age rule in the new Act or in the pending regulations.

Majestic Pride’s published terms are explicit: “the permissible age for entry on the casino floor is a minimum of 21 years”, and guests under 21 are restricted to the restaurant and non-gaming areas, accompanied by a parent or guardian. In practice, a representative of Bally’s Colombo replied to a traveller on Tripadvisor: “the minimum age for entrance is 21 years.” Wikipedia’s gambling-age table also lists Sri Lanka at 21. An older Tripadvisor thread had another traveller saying a 19-year-old would be admitted with ID, which we treat as unofficial. We have not confirmed the age in the 2025 Act or the pending regulations (not yet confirmed).

ID

Majestic Pride requires a valid government photo ID for everyone and a valid passport for all international guests, shown on request. Bring your passport at any casino. Kids

City of Dreams has hotels, restaurants and retail on site, so families may visit non-gaming areas. Whether under-18s may cross the casino floor is not yet confirmed. Assume they may not.
