Quick answer

Indian visitors still apply online for an ETA before travel, but since 25 May 2026 the 30-day tourist ETA is free for Indians and 39 other nationalities. Land-only packages start around INR 35,000 for 4 nights (one operator), and Bally's publishes casino buy-ins from INR 500,000. Flight costs are not yet confirmed.

Why Colombo

Melco’s chairman has said Sri Lanka “can be to India what Macau is to China”, and City of Dreams targets guests from India, China, Southeast Asia and the Middle East who are within four hours’ travel by air (iGaming Business). The Indian-run Majestic Group is behind Majestic Pride, and several venues advertise to Indian players.

Visa (ETA)

Indian passport holders apply online for the ETA before travel and carry the emailed approval. The official site, eta.gov.lk, says that from 25 May 2026 nationals of 40 listed countries can get the tourist ETA free of charge for 30 days. Time Out and Wego report that India is on the list. Before that, the tourist ETA cost about US$50 (US$20 for SAARC nationals) per a visa-guide site. Processing time and whether the waiver is permanent are not yet confirmed.
